The 2GIG panel is a Wireless system, so there is no need to run wires all over the place. All devices utilize Supervised 2-Way Wireless technology, so there is no need to worry about the security of the wireless signal.
2GIG is a fully-featured Security system, with all the functionality you would expect to keep your home secure - intrusion devices such as door contacts and motion detectors, as well as life safety devices, such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide sensors.
But where 2GIG really shines is the affordable, integrated home automation, coupled with the ability to access your system from virtually anywhere - regular phones, your Blackberry, iPhone, Android or other smartphone, and even the internet.
Log into your system when you're on vacation and check the temperature. Getting too cold? Turn the furnace up, no problem.
